Jimmy Page Says Remastered Led Zeppelin Albums Will Arrive in 2014; Each One with a "Companion Disc"
Robert Plant reported in a recent BBC Radio interview that the reissues will arrive sometime in 2014, and now Page has shared more information about the project.
In an interview with the U.K.’s TeamRock Radio at the 2013 Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards in London on Thursday, Page explains that he initially had hoped to release the remastered albums before the end of 2013, but he says they now “will come out in the New Year, hopefully [in the] not too distant [future].”
Jimmy reveals that each album will be issued separately in its own box and will be packaged with “a companion disc,” that includes “different versions” of songs. He points out that one of the unique aspects of the remastered discs is that during the process he “revisited all the sort of working mixes that were done at the time.”
Using Led Zeppelin III as an example, Page reports that the bonus disc includes “an incredible version” of “Since I’ve Been Loving You” that’s “totally different to” the original album version. He adds, “It’s really raw in its approach, it’s quite dramatic, it’s cool.”
Jimmy says his goal in putting together each album package was that they “will give a really intimate picture of the group. That’s the idea that I’ve had with it and I think it’s successful. I know it is.”
As for the status of the project, Page says, “It’s all done, all the sonic side of it is done.”

Jimmy Page Inducted into the Hall Of Fame - 10th June 2010
Jimmy Page was inducted into the Mojo Hall Of Fame (presented by Universal Catalogue Marketing) on June 10th 2010 at the British music magazine’s annual prize awards ceremony in London, England.
Page was hailed for his groundbreaking contributions to modern music during the 2010 Mojo Honours List Awards, which are voted for by readers of the publication.
Phil Alexander, MOJO’s Editor-In-Chief, stated “Jimmy Page is the musician by whom all other musicians are measured. Every guitar player wants to sound like him, every producer wants to capture the sounds he captured. He is a genuine music legend, and a recent BBC poll, which placed Led Zeppelin above even The Beatles, only underlines it. And, tantalisingly, the prospect of a new Jimmy Page project suggests that the man still has something up his sleeve. I can’t wait to hear what it is.”
Page, who last won a Mojo award for the 2007 Led Zeppelin reunion, revealed he was working on new material with a number of different projects.
“I’m just looking forward to making some music and surprising people with it,” he said.
“It won’t be just teaming up with lots of people who are [big] names. I’ve got an idea of something which I’ve had for a long time and now’s the time to do it.”
He didn’t offer any further details about his collaborators or his new direction.
JP recently signed on with music management company IE
Jimmy Page has confirmed that he plans to be performing a whole lotta new solo material on a upcoming 2010 tour. In a recent interview, by Sky News, Page revealed that he’s been working on some new music since the Led Zeppelin reunion gig held at London’s O2 arena in December 2007.
“We’re running up to Christmas now and next year I have every intention of playing music live and manifesting it,” Page said during the interview. “I’ve got the music waiting, and that’s what i’ll be doing. It’s been two years since the O2, so it’s time to do that.”
There is no word yet on a release date for the new material nor are there any confirmed tour dates other than the newly announced show in Beijing Bird’s Nest Stadium on 10/10/2010. Original date was 17th April but this has been changed. ShowOfPeace.com for more details.
